Welcome to Emmaus House
Many people ask us why we are called 'Emmaus' House? Well, the name comes directly from an account in the Gospel of Luke where we encounter two people on their journey on the road to Emmaus, and our hope is to be with people today as they journey both humanly and spiritually. We aim to provide an integrated approach to spirituality in a safe and homely environment and, whilst we ourselves are based in the Catholic/Christian tradition, we welcome people of all faiths or of none.
As well as a Full Programme of retreats, courses and workshops, Emmaus House provides excellent Facilities for meetings, conferences and private functions. We are only fifteen minutes away from the motorway network and can also be easily reached by public transport. For those travelling from a little further afield, Bristol Airport is approximately a twenty-minute taxi journey away. Limited parking is available, although disabled visitors are encouraged to contact us in advance so that we can arrange reserved spaces.
On Saturday and Sunday 18th/19th July we will be hosting a quilting exhibition: Quilters Allsorts, an informal group of quilting friends from different parts of the country, have been using Emmaus House for quilting retreat weekends for four years - they meet to sew, spark off ideas, support each other in many ways, and to enjoy the food in the peaceful setting of the house. They will be showing off their work in a colourful display of bed quilts, wall hangings and even wearable art. The exhibition will run from 10.00 am until 4.30 pm each day with admission costing £3 per person. Light refreshments and access to the gardens are available, so come along and see what they have been up to!
